Formed in 2012 the Sequim Community Orchestra has grown to around 60 musicians, of all ages, who come together to improve performance skills and to experience playing in an orchestra. The Sequim Community Orchestra is a friendly, non-competitive ensemble that performs orchestral music for the community. We welcome amateur musicians who perform an orchestral instrument. We are a training orchestra. Our focus is on the musical development of our orchestra members. Whatever your experience, if you would enjoy honing and sharing your skills, we invite you to play with us. There are no auditions. We double wind parts, but reserve the right to limit the number of wind players on each part. Rehearsals are Tuesdays, 7pm to 9pm, in the James Center for Performing Arts in Sequim. Attendance at all rehearsals and performances is expected. We request advance notice if you must miss any. The Sequim Community Orchestra performs three times a year.

Plan for reopening the Sequim Community Orchestra

We all miss the community of the SCO. A plan to reopen the orchestra was approved at our general meeting on September 21st. Here are the details:

Because of Covid we will ask of our players

  1. In the beginning rehearsals will be strings only.
  2. Number of players will be limited, starting at 25.
  3. If you feel unwell, stay home.
  4. Immunization will be required.
  5. Masks will be worn by all while inside.
  6. Rehearsals will be shortened (7pm – 8:30pm) and there will be no break.

As the situation develops we will be amending this list. I'll always have all current guidelines posted on the web site.

Rehearsals will begin on Tuesday, September 28. While there is nothing definite scheduled, I'm going to run the rehearsals as if we will have a performance in February.
